Stevenson Railroad Depot Museum

Built in 1872, this pretty little depot turned into a museum houses antiquities from all different eras. A convenient stop, just off the highway on the way to Chattanooga.

We visited in late November, 2012 so they were just getting all decorated up for Christmas in pretty wreaths and bows.

Don't you wish you had a cast iron, antique mailbox?

The inside also had some pretty Christmasy villages and greenery to spruce up the decor for the season. This is a display of railroad lanterns from different periods.

A pretty little stained glass piece donated to the museum.

An impressive modern hand-made quilt, obviously worked on by several different families.

A stuffed eagle in a glass case watches over one of the rooms. The light from the window, and the reflections in the glass of the Christmas baubles makes for a multidimensional photo.

The museum is home to lots of war paraphernalia and papers.

A great idea for a tree - decorated with vintage and antique kitchen tools and utensils, and, of course, strings of cranberries and popcorn. You'll want to click to get a closer look of this beauty.

Walking around the outside of the museum with a few retired train cars.

We also got a closeup view of some not-so-retired train cars rushing past us, very close and very fast.

Y'all come back now, ya hear?

  1. These are beautiful photos and really capture the essence of our visit there. I would think the museum would want to buy these for advertising purposes. :)
